However, Mustangs coach Russell Lardner has urged his players to remain grounded and focused on the prize, as the finals series approaches.
"The season doesn't end with a minor premiership, we need to remain focused on the bigger picture but also continue to take it week by week," Lardner told the Argus.
"We are in a good place right now. We are all working hard at training and building towards our goal.
"Everyone is happy and enjoying their footy, which makes everything else easier."
The Mustangs welcome back Owen Blair from a four game suspension for their clash with the Port City Breakers at home this Saturday and the inclusion has created a headache for Lardner.
Jeremy Taylor has been a superb replacement at fullback and Lardner hasn't reached a conclusion on how his backline will look.
"Jeremy has been great for us at the back but he can play anywhere on the field and we will use that to our advantage," Lardner said.
"I haven't decided how I will reshuffle the backline but it is definitely a tough decision.
"I will finalise the team near the end of the week but they will all be on the field somewhere."
Prior to Blair's suspension, Taylor was playing halfback and Tyreece Sines lined up in the centre.
While Blair was out, Sines returned to the number seven jersey where he began the season and Taylor slotted into the fullback position.
The Mustangs won all four games in Blair's absence but clearly missed the x-factor the three-time Group Three premiership winner brings to a side.
Following the battle with the Breakers, the Mustangs will host the third placed Wauchope Blues before they end their regular season on the road against the bottom placed Taree City Bulls.
As it stands, the Mustangs will benefit from a week off for the first weekend of finals before they host the major semi-final on Sunday August 11.
The Mustangs host the Breakers at Verge St Oval at 3pm this Saturday.
Macleay Valley's reserve grade side currently sits in sixth position while the Under-18.5s are in first place.
The Ladies League Tag are winless this season but are growing week-to-week.
